jade statue

the jade superstition

The Chinese believe that Jade is a lucky stone, that the number 8 is their luckiest number and that horses bring wealth in business and in the home.  Legend has it that Jade placed on the eyelids or in the mouth of the dead brings back their spirit to another life on Earth.

John was born in 1966, which is the Chinese year of the horse and whilst holidaying in China, John and Kim decided to buy a Jade carved statue of 8 horses to help bring them luck in their new business venture.  The strange fact is that the very same day that John purchased the beautiful statue two other buyers credit card’s had been declined!  It would seem that fate played a part in bringing the statue to the UK.   Strangely, the carving took 8 weeks to arrive at Felixstowe docks, and from there 8 hours drive in a lorry to it’s new home of Whitton Lodge.

The carved statue will be the centrepiece in the Whitton Lodge reception area for all to see when they arrive…you never know, this might bring anyone who stays at Whitton Lodge some good luck for their future!
